goodbye, spring break

Exhibit A. The civilized and social media-appropriate version of me on Spring Break.

I began this week in the hopes that everything would go to plan.
I would accomplish much, and feel inspired. I would write and write and write, and run and run and run, and never feel tired or need to take a breather.
But God answered my prayer for rest, and instead I found myself sick for my entire Spring Break. There has been a lot of coughing, many bowls of soup, and a not too pleasant attitude on my part.

Exhibit B. The actual sickness-ridden and crazy hermit version of me
whilst cleaning my room on Spring Break. AM I HUMAN

Yet, there was also grace. Grace and patience from God to hold me even when I kicked and fought His loving arms. He showed me (and is showing me still) what it means to be flexible, to trust, and to rest. This week may not have been a week of picture-perfect sunsets, workouts, and plans, but a week of "perfect" was not what I needed.

Instead, not only did I need the Lord to hold me,
but I needed to learn just how much I need to be held.

Goodbye, Spring Break. You have taught me just how important it is to have an attitude of joy in the present, not just in retrospect. When I look back on this week, I will remember standing in a best friend's wedding, eating fudge-filled brownies and ice cream, my father writing his short story in the garage, finally finishing Pride and Prejudice, and the warm Florida sunshine.

+ How has your week been? What has you currently in awe of the Lord?
And do you ever feel like a hermit?

  1. First of all, you're so cute!! And you look really good in chokers, btw.

Also, YES. Goodness gracious, I can relate to wanting things to go according to plan, and when they don't...needing an attitude change. XD

  2. Looks like you got the rest that you needed. Things work out the way they should, always.

I'm so glad that you got some down time to rest, recover and rejuvenate (how's that for an alliteration).

You've read Pride and Prejudice; I think I may just start reading it. I've always wanted to but never have.

My week was busy but my weekend was spent with my family, doing all the good things that we love to do.

    1. Yes, I agree! God's plan of rest for me was different than I expected, but still much needed. :) You should give Pride and Prejudice a try. It's a difficult read at first but it gets better! Glad to hear your weekend was fun!!

  3. This post is so beautiful. A wonderful way to take getting sick in your break! I had to learn this week what it means to be true to God and serve Him, even when it makes you "uncool" in the eyes of others. It was a hard lesson that I am still trying to grasp, but I know I am already stronger because of it.

  4. I'm sorry that you've been sick! But I love how you've taken something not-so-fun and turned it into a wonderful lesson. Resting is so hard but so important.

My week has been busy with lots of rehearsals, but good. I was sick as well, but thankfully it was short lived and mild, haha. God's showing me lots of things lately, about staying calm and having peace and love. Lots of love.

    1. It's been tough but I'm finally getting better. And thank you! I realized just how important perspective is. It's all about the mindset. :)

I hope you're feeling better! Rehearsal sounds challenging but like a lot of fun :) Glad to hear you're learning awesome things! Loving others is something I want to do more of going forward. A difficult but worthwhile pursuit!
