got so much to prove; God, don't let me lose my mind

Do you ever just feel like...

I don't know, friends. It's just that all that life is seems to catch up with me sometimes, in both a beautiful and painful way. I stress, I smile. I breathe, I overthink. All in the course of a day, an hour. A minute?!
"So, this is my life. And I want you to know that I am both happy and sad and I'm still trying to figure out how that could be."
~ Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

What are the perks of being a wallflower, by the way? Do we ever find out? Are there any? Seriously, I'd love to know.

I digress.

Right now, I'm learning very much how joy is not circumstantial. External, earthly things can never afford me confidence or true security, because those things are ever-shifting. Those things can be taken from me. But as I approach my 23rd year, I want to cling to Christ.
"As we have heard, so we have seen in the city of the Lord Almighty, in the city of our God: God makes her secure forever.
~ Psalm 48:8

+ Psst, Life Update: I have just finished reading the first Harry Potter novel for school (yes, I actually am taking a Harry Potter class, no lie) and let me just say, I am slowly becoming OBSESSED with the series. Seriously, the books are beyond vivid.

+ Also, I'm looking forward to reading all of y'all's glorious blogs very, very soon! I feel like I haven't gotten to sit down and just read them all in a while, and I miss that!

    1. Yes ma'am! Isn't that insane? It's an online course that satisfies an exit requirement for my degree. I'm thinking I need to buy robes and a wand just to make it official, haha :)

    1. It's all the feelings + all the thoughts and then, all the tears. D: But being emotional and an overthinker also comes with perks, I suppose: being able to write and create art. So we can always use them for good! :)

Oh, I intend to! They are so rich. It's an incredible world J.K. has created. Just amazing!

  4. GAH YES TO THIS TO ALL OF THIS. <3 "External, earthly things can never afford me confidence or true security, because those things are ever-shifting." <<< BRO. truer words have no been spoken. ♥ Something I've been meditating on a lot lately is "nothing real can be threatened." There are so many things in life that pretend to be us but they're just impostors. Your posts always give me life. <3333

    1. Wow, "nothing real can be threatened"....that's super powerful stuff. A lot of times I think the things I worry about and fixate on and frankly just obsess over ARE NOT REAL. They don't actually matter. Thank you so much for sharing that with me! Totally sharpened my mind. And as always, thanks for the kind words!! <3 :-)

  5. The perks of being a wallflower: you learn a lot by observing, you become compassionate and even though some people may not care as much as you do about them, it's still a remarkable gift to have, and you find meaning in the small things that most people ignore and it's a perk because it means you actually experience life more and can appreciate it more than others because you notice. There's a lot of perks to noticing and absorbing the silences in life.

At least, those are the things I think are perks to being a wallflower. There are downsides too but c'est la vie (such is life). Also, yes girl yessss to Harry Potter . I need to re-read the series. It's definitely been awhile. Hermione fan forever ❤️

    1. Mmm, girl that is so true! I feel like wallflowers really soak up the parts of life that people who are more like the "life of the party" tend to miss out on. It's a gentle, sweet and quiet contemplation. :)

Ooh this makes me think, what would a book that combined Perks and Harry Potter be like? What if Hermione walked into Charlie's world? But how could that happen because Emma Watson also plays Sam? EGAD!
